Glamping in Moab Utah
Moab, Utah is the perfect location for your next girl’s trip. In the summer of 2020, I ventured there with some of my closest friends to celebrate my 25th birthday. It was the BEST WEEKEND EVER. We drove 5 hours from Denver to Moab with stops in GlenwoodSprings. You can also fly into Salt Lake City and drive 4 hours to Moab, or small regional airports nearby.. Either way, you’ll have a pretty drive. Here are some of my recommendations for Moab and plus our favorite spot along the way.
Your Stay
Under Canvas
Glamping, meaning “glamorous camping” is the perfect way to be at one with nature while keeping modern luxuries. This campsite is located near Arches National park just minutes off of the main highway. It’s the most lovely campsite and I recommend it for campers of all kinds. Even if you’ve never camped a day in your life, I promise you will enjoy this.
As soon as we arrived we were welcomed by great hosts. They helped us settle into our tents and passed on all of the knowledge we needed on the campsite. Under Canvas offers many great amenities and fun activities to help you get the most of your trip. They have ready-to-go fire pits with smore packages waiting at the front desk, yoga classes for you to join, and occasionally live music on site. Our tent was lovely – with a king-sized bed, wood floors, and a full bathroom… YES, a shower, in a tent! The porch looked out onto a stunning view of red rocks. I loved staying with Under Canvas and I will certainly be back again. They have 10 locations around the country, mostly near National Parks. My goal is to visit each of them. It can be a bit pricey so getting a group together is your best bet!
Despite all of the great parts of the campsite, nothing could compare to the stars at night. We had way too much fun glaring up into the sky every night talking about how small we are and what kind of aliens were out there. You’re able to clearly see the milky way and tons of shooting stars throughout the night. I was even lucky enough to see a shooting star on my birthday at exactly midnight 🙂
Activities
Float Trip
Moab is hot, hot, hot – especially if you decide to go in the middle of July as we did. This float trip down the Colorado River is exactly what you’ll need to cool down. This was collectively our favorite part of the trip as we brought our own cooler full of spiked drinks and had the best time. Our tour guy was a blast and did all the heavy work of actually rowing us down the river. The views along the way were breathtaking, and viewing them in the river made it that much better. Be sure to get the link and book your trip!
Arches National Park
Just driving through this park is a gorgeous sight, with stunning red rocks everywhere you turn. If you’re intrigued by rocks and rock formations, this is one of the best parks around. A moderately hard hike that takes you to Utah’s most recognizable arch, named ‘The Delicate Arch’. You have to visit this one at sunset. Most of the time this trail is filled with tourists, so be mindful of that if you don’t enjoy crowds. If you’re wanting something a little less traveled, here are some other options.
Unfortunately, we were limited on time in Moab so there are a ton of hikes I saved that I wasn’t able to make. If you’d like some direction on other hikes you can do while there I suggest the following: Double Arches in Arches National Park, Island in the Sky, Needles, and Deadman’s Horseshoes in Canyonlands National Park.
Stops Along the Way…
Sweet Coloradough
This cute little stop is in Glenwood Springs, on your way from Denver to Moab. It’s a great spot for breakfast! The best cake donuts, bagel egg sandwiches, mimosas, and even an occasional tequila shot! The owners have the best sense of humor. I loved supporting this little bakery.
